ProjectionTools calibration software from domeprojection, a brand of VIOSO, is relied on by some of the world's most advanced simulators and plays a key role in this state-of-the-art maritime simulator.

Manoeuvre simulators are the most demanding in terms of visualisation, where achieving bothaccuracy and realism presents significantchallenges. Projection onto a panoramic screen surrounding the bridge is the solution that best meets these requirements. The screen, consisting of a PVC canvas stretched over an aluminium structure, measures 16 metres in diameter and is 6 metres high.

In its AV in healthcare feature, you can read about how VIOSO technology has been deployed across a range of interesting areas, from training the next generation of surgeons right through to minimising the distress of young patients undergoing major investigations in MRI scanners.

MRI scans can be a daunting experience for adults, let alone children, and we have seen AV used in a very innovative way at a Dortmund clinic. It is essential that patients remain calm and still, something that is not helped by the sterile atmosphere of an MRI lab.

We have seen our solutions deployed to project different ambient environments on the walls around the scanner, turning the whole experience into an immersive, calming space. Multiple projectors are blended together using our camera-based calibration system, allowing hospital staff to quickly recalibrate without calling AV engineers, putting them in control of the entire room.

An MRI scan can be a heavy burden for children and parents. On the one hand, there is concern about a disease that has not yet been identified; on the other hand, the examination is unpleasant in a narrow, noisy tube, even if the procedure itself is not dangerous. In addition, many children find it very difficult to remain calm during MRI examinations.

Therefore, the scans often shake, similar to a photo with a very long exposure time. Therefore, sedatives and anaesthesia are often necessary, with considerable stress on the young body. To relieve the children's fear of the large MRI scanner before the examination, the entire examination room is transformed through video projections into a flower meadow, a beach, an aquarium, a zoo, or space. The children can watch movie scenes on a large screen in the preparation room before the examination, and choose their favourite scene.

During the examination itself, the children can watch films via a mirror system on the back wall behind the MRI. The mirrors also have the effect that the children do not look at the tube but out of it. So they do not feel confined when they enter the MRI, the horizon opens – the entrance can be a space shuttle or a fire truck – the patient can decide, making it an interactive, personal experience. These are some unique ways that AV is being leveraged to enhance the patient journey and experience.

TELLING THE STORY OF SAUDI HISTORY AND THE development of trafic policing through projection, spatial audio and tightly linked show control, Tahakom’s new Tahakkum Dome in Saudi Arabia has been delivered as an immersive audiovisual environment designed to communicate a specic national narrative.

Created for the Saudi Technology and Security Comprehensive Control Company (Tahakom), the installation sits within the organisation’s broader public safety and smart mobility remit, aligning with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 direction for intelligent city systems

At the centre of the attraction is the dome itself, built around a 360° projection concept that extends beyond walls to incorporate the oor as part of the visual canvas. A total of 10 Panasonic PT-RQ10 projectors were deployed, with four covering the curved dome wall surface and a further six dedicated to foor projection. To manage alignment and blending across multiple projection planes, VIOSO servers were employed, supported by an auto camera calibration position located in the middle of the dome to streamline geometry correction and calibration.

Our FREE, world-famous test pattern generator has been updated.

We had many requests to include a metric version, and now it is here. Whereas the previous version allowed you to define a test pattern in pixels, the new version lets you define one in real-world units (e.g., meters) with precise control over the number of subdivisions and their exact size.

It is perfect for use cases where physical measurement accuracy matters, e.g., projection mapping, 3D model texturing, and floor plans.

"Visitor attractions are constantly changing. Today, we’re seeing an evolution towards living worlds within these attractions where AV can deploy multiple narratives and storylines through technology. The biggest transformation in this market is that there can be more changes. If you are building a ride today, you don’t just want one ride, you want lots of content so that you can renew the ride every five to six years. This is creating a more modular line of thinking, where you use projection mapping, LED, and the content side will be key in the future.

“We are moving very quickly from static content to interactive worlds driven by engines such as Unreal. This is a big plus because a ride can change, with its theme changing dramatically in as little as two years. If you combine this with more AV technologies like dynamic projection mapping, you can easily change the 3D content in a scene and adapt it into a completely new ride with a couple of small changes.”

VIOSO appoints James Belso as UK and Ireland Sales Representative

VIOSO has announced the appointment of James Belso as Regional Sales Representative, AV, for the UK and Ireland.

The appointment forms part of VIOSO’s ongoing recruitment programme, supporting continued growth in the Pro AV and Visitor attraction markets in the UK & Ireland. In his new role, Belso will leverage his extensive industry network and serve as the primary point of contact for the UK—one of VIOSO’s most important markets.

With more than 25 years of experience working with leading display manufacturers and a strong background in the Pro AV and Visitor Attraction sectors, Belso’s move into media servers and calibration solutions is a natural progression. He will play a key role in ensuring the seamless customer experience and high-level support for which VIOSO is known.

Commenting on his new role, Belso said:

VIOSO will be back at Integrated Systems Europe (Hall 5, booth K400) in Barcelona, with a focus on its three key areas of business – Software for projector auto-alignment and LED calibration, Servers for media playback, and Services for integration partners.

Taken together, these software tools and hardware provide a suite of options users can deploy individually or together to bring their experience to life.

Software Updates - Calibration:

VIOSO is globally recognized for its world-leading projection calibration solutions, and this year’s show marks the launch of VIOSO 7 – the next generation of its intuitive, camera-based calibration software. VIOSO 7 delivers fully automatic calibration for virtually any projection setup, including domes, VR environments, and complex projection-mapping installations.

Upgraded features include:

An enhanced 3D model generator with a custom model preview in the Project Designer
Feathering for calibration outlines

Following its highly successful debut at last year’s ISE, VIOSO now unveils EXAPLAY 3, the all-new generation of its media playback software.

EXAPLAY 3 is purpose-built for the media playback needs of around 90% of AV projects, offering a simple, affordable, stable, powerful, and highly versatile solution. It combines a robust, high-performance backend with a unique, web-based, multi-user interface.

EXAPLAY 3 introduces a wide range of new features, including

Support for 64-channel multichannel audio and Dante, as well as a powerful real-time shader engine. This engine enables live modification of media elements using more than 60 effects, including advanced capabilities such as perspective-correct 2D mapping onto domes and eye-point perspective correction.
Integration of new live input sources, such as HTML and webpage streaming, advanced NDI, and LTC support, making EXAPLAY 3 an ideal platform for interactive and time-synchronized installations.
A major new capability is real-time warping of individual media items directly on the timeline, providing an unprecedented level of flexibility and allowing users to fine-tune content natively within EXAPLAY.
Multi-user control and control widgets are now included as standard, further enhancing EXAPLAY’s versatility and positioning it as a powerful yet accessible media playback solution for modern AV workflows.

Visitors to the booth might also get a preview of what to expect in 2026, including AI content generation for multi-display setups and EXAPLAY Cloud – a cloud-based content distribution platform that will come online late 2026,
